ZINVO's Favorite Cars: Audi RS7

In this installment of our favorite car series, we strapped on one of our new Blade Silver watches with the titanium blades on the dial and headed to the gorgeous Swiss Alps in an awesome Audi RS7. Join us for the ride.

It's no big secret that here at ZINVO, we're huge fans of the German Automaker, Audi AG. In fact, we previously delved into the Audi R8 V10 Plus. Today's focus is on the 2017 Audi RS7 Performance. A high-performance four-door sedan that impresses, the RS7 lives up to Audi’s guiding principal of “Progress Through Technology.”

The Bold Exterior

The body of the Audi RS7 is built from lightweight construction technology using a steel chassis with aluminum exterior body panels. The front of the car has a honeycomb mesh grill reminiscent of the Audi car design, with functional air intakes for improved performance.

The lines and curves of the RS7 make for a beautiful four-door sedan, but also hinting to its extreme power and performance. It is a well-balanced design that is not too sporty, nor too classy. The headlights are LED with programmable cornering lights designed to shine on the windy canyon road at night.

An adaptive rear spoiler comes up at around 80 MPH for increased downshift but is also deployed by a button inside the vehicle. The sports exhaust system will make sure to pierce the eardrum of anyone you pass, but what makes it so loud?

The Impressive Performance

Even though the Audi RS7 Performance is a four-door sedan, it performs more like a Lamborghini. The 4.0 Liter Twin Turbo V8, produces 605 horsepower @6100 RPM and 517 lbs-ft torque.

This immense power is guided through an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission equipped with the famous Audi Quattro all-wheel drive, launching the car to 0-60 MPH in 3.6 seconds. However, Audi has been known to underestimate their take off times previously, so it might be closer to 3 seconds. Top speed on this monster is 190 MPH.

Even with that impressive performance, Audi is still able to keep the MPG relatively low with 15 MPG for the city and 25 MPG on the highways, thus a combined 18 MPG. They can do this because of their cylinder-on-demand efficiency technology, which essentially shuts off cylinders when they are not needed, as in highway cruising.

The Spacious Interior

Not only does the RS7 comfortably fit four adults, but also each passenger is able to control their climate through the four-zone automatic control system for optimal comfort. The interior is outfitted with beautifully done ambient LED lighting system and high-quality Valcona leather seats.

As for entertainment, the infotainment system features a 7” color touch display and a 14 speaker Bose system with 630 Watts. The Audi Smartphone interface includes Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto, adding to all the high-tech gadgetry already packed into this German machine.

“Progress through technology” is not just a phrase loosely used for marketing purposes. It is what drives the engineers at Audi to bring us such revolutionary vehicles such as the RS7 Performance. With a price starting at around $130,000, it is an incredible value for the amount of luxury and performance received. And value driven luxury is an ethos we abide by at ZINVO too!
